Codiac Organics
Moncton
Owners: Mark & Fran Day
Brief History
Mark and Francine Day are new to farming, but not out of touch of what is needed for a healthy life and community. Fueled by a health issue after Mark suffered a massive heart attack in 2008, he and his wife Fran began the ground work at Codiac Organics in 2015. Using methods pioneered by Eliot Coleman of Maine and Jean-Martin Fortier of Quebec, they were able to start growing quality certified organic vegetables, eggs and poultry on their 5+ acre urban farm located in the city of Moncton. The farm also has a 30 x 100 ft greenhouse for tomatoes in summer, and cold crops in winter (spinach, chard, kale etc). Being within the city limits also allows them to remain open year-around with changing hours from season-to-season as well as also leaving room to support other certified organic produce growers in Eastern and Atlantic Canada to meet customer demands. 2018 marked their first 'CSA/Farm Box' subscription option which sold out quickly, they have already made plans to accommodate more in 2019 and beyond.
